Casting Director Marci Liroff recently gave actors’ a little gift:  She compiled a list of casting direocrs who tweet. Marci herself is a crazily active tweeter, and with this list she’s given actors the opportunity to receive advice directly from cd’s.  And maybe  get the chance to know them a bit, so when you go in for them, you might even drop a question or comment about their interests.

The Election Candidates as Movie Protagonists

Posted on: December 4th, 2012 by wmapother 2 Comments

I forgot to post this link a month ago, what with my advising top political strategists and all.  It got a little busy.

I co-wrote an op-ed for the Huffington Post with Lynn Vavreck, a noted political professor at UCLA and author of  The Gamble.  Through the prism of Lynn’s extensive polling data, we considered the two candidates as traditional movie protagonists—studio films vs. indie films—and the strengths and weaknesses that suggested for each of them.

Yes, the election is over, but if you’re into that sort of thing, the piece is here.  I also have a couple other pieces up on HuffPo, and they’re here.

Launch Broken…But Not Too Broken

Posted on: August 17th, 2011 by wmapother 2 Comments

I love that advice.  In other words, just get the darn thing out the door.  And this site is just that darn thing.

Welcome to the new WilliamMapother.com.

It isn’t perfect or complete, and some may call it barely serviceable, but at least it’s out the door.  I intend to take a page from the playbooks of the best tech companies and iterate frequently, instead of tweaking endlessly toward some vague notion of perfection.

So — plenty of more content will be uploaded in the coming days, weeks and months, and if there’s anything you’d like to see, please let me know (on the About page).

In the meantime, I’m glad to have you here.
